Organized by the American Museum of Natural History, Beyond Planet Earth explores humanity’s future in outer space past our native planet. With a return trip to the moon, crash course for a near-earth asteroid, fateful voyage to our neighbor Mars, a dive between the icy waves of Jupiter’s moon Europa and a centuries-spanning journey past the Milky Way galaxy, Beyond Planet Earth is an out of this world look at the human spirit for adventure.
Beyond Planet Earth is open September 30, 2017 through February 12, 2018.
The Discovery Room engages children 3-12 years old and their accompanying caregivers in the disciplines of the natural sciences. Visitors can assemble a Prestosuchus, a life-sized cast of a Triassic reptile, uncover fossils in a re-creation of a paleontology field site, pet a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, see living reptiles, explore the Moon, and many other activities and resources. This will be the place for Kansas City’s curious young scientists. Children must be accompanied by adults and adults must be accompanied by children. The Discovery Room can entertain 80 people at a time and is open from 10:15 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Saturday and 12:15 pm to 5:00 pm on Sundays.
